Indicative portion references:

The paediatric team sets portions according to growth, needs and tolerance: not a universal age-based rule. The example does not replace or reduce an individual plan.

Chicken: the protocol daily reference is 150–200 g. It is not a universal age-based rule: the paediatric team decides whether that reference is appropriate and records the individual amount. “½ of the daily chicken portion” divides that same amount without doubling it. Fresh white fish: documentary reference of 100–150 g on a single day per week, replacing chicken for that entire day; individualise the portion without assuming nutritional equivalence.

Convention in these examples: chicken and fish are weighed raw as edible portions, without skin or bones. They are not equivalent to the same cooked weight. Cook thoroughly and check for fish bones before cooking and when serving.

Example base distributed across meals: 2 eggs, 2 potatoes, 2 dessert bananas (not plantain) and 1 peeled apple per day. These are reference units, not maximums or uniform weights: individualise size and texture. Potatoes are peeled, boiled and refrigerated before the stated finishing step, following the storage instructions.

Rice, noodles, oil and vegetables require individualised quantities counted towards daily limits. Extras are optional, only in written and accounted amounts; they do not automatically replace base fruit. “Mini” describes a format, not a nutritional portion.

This example does not specify calories or guarantee requirements are met, including for active adolescents. Do not increase formula to compensate for differences between dishes: review the combined diet and enteral nutrition with the paediatric team. Images cannot measure portions or establish a safe cut.

This list does not confirm daily protocol compliance. The nutrition team must review portions, substitutions and textures before using these examples.

Portion and frequency references:
  • ·Chicken: protocol daily reference of 150–200 g; the paediatric team decides whether it is appropriate and records the individual amount; it is not a universal age-based rule; replaced by fish on Wednesday
  • ·Eggs: 2/day
  • ·Potatoes: 2/day as a 2019 protocol reference; cooked and refrigerated before use
  • ·Base fruit: 2 bananas + 1 peeled apple/day
  • ·Fresh white fish: 1 day/week as a substitute for chicken

Clinical note: Portions should be adjusted to the individual calculation, age, growth, tolerance and family context.

How to interpret portions and alternatives

These are meal ideas, not an individual energy plan. White rice is adjusted to the target and appetite; there is no universal portion weight. Distinguish protocol ranges, limits and individual instructions: a range is not an open-ended minimum. Recipe portions do not replace a whole-day assessment, especially for children.

In phases 1 and 2, fish dishes are alternatives for a single day per week, not instructions to repeat fish on every day where it appears. The team must select the meals for that day and adjust the chicken substitution; combining both in one dish does not justify extra fish days.

Distinguish dry or raw ingredient weight from cooked weight. Soup or purée volume does not specify how much of an ingredient it contains. Where a measure is missing, specify it when personalising the recipe rather than inferring it from the image.

⚕ Clinical notice: This menu is a paediatric reference example and does not replace individualised dietary prescription by the paediatric medical team.

These are general sample menus. They must be individualised to each person’s needs, tolerance, age, disease phase and treatment. They do not replace advice from their doctor or dietitian.
